Your Guide to the 2025 AAAAI / WAO Joint Congress

With so much to see, do and learn at the 2025 AAAAI / WAO Joint Congress, it can be hard to know where to start. We’ve compiled this guide to assist you with planning and navigating during this truly global event.

Need to Know

Sessions held as part of the Joint Congress will take place at the San Diego Convention Center and the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. You’ll find maps to help you navigate the area in the Joint Congress app and Final Program.
The Online Planner, created in conjunction with our new mobile app, is supported in part by AstraZeneca and puts all the information you need for the event at your fingertips. By creating a login in the app or desktop planner, you’ll be able to favorite sessions, build an agenda and be added to the social directory! Learn more about how to find the new and improved mobile app here.
The Joint Congress is a fully in-person event, and no sessions will be livestreamed. Most sessions during the Joint Congress will be recorded, and all recordings will be available to registrants 4-6 weeks after the live event.
The most up-to-date versions of the Joint Congress handouts are available in the Online Planner and in the session listings in the mobile app.
Attendees are required to complete individual Session Evaluations and the Overall Survey to claim credit. The surveys are accessible on the app or online. Continuing education credits and attendance certificates can be claimed online beginning Thursday, February 27, 2025, on the Joint Congress website and in the mobile app. Recorded content and credit claiming will be available through December 31, 2025.

The 2025 Plenary Sessions
The 2025 plenary sessions will bring together some of our specialty’s most esteemed experts from across the globe.
Join us for Friday’s Presidential Plenary: Environmental Influences on the Microbiome: Impact on Allergic Diseases, Saturday’s Plenary: How to Adapt the Practice of Allergy and Immunology to Climate Change, Sunday’s Plenary: Ending Respiratory Viral Infections: The Quest for Vaccines and Monday’s Plenary: Changes to Asthma Management in an Ever-Changing World.
Opening Ceremony & Welcome Reception
Will you be arriving in San Diego Thursday, February 27? Join us for an energizing Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception to kick off the Joint Congress! The brief ceremony is sure to inspire you, and we invite you to enjoy an evening of connection and celebration with peers from across the globe.
The event runs from 4:15 to 5:45 pm at the Convention Center, Upper Level, Room 6A. We can’t wait to see you there!
Thursday’s Events
A number of exciting events will take place Thursday, February 27. They include the 39th Annual Harold S. Nelson Military Allergy/Immunology Symposium, the Basic Aeroallergen Course, the International Eczema Council: The Global Impact of Environmental, Food and Contact Allergies on Atopic Dermatitis, the 2025 ABAI Literature Review Course and the Opening Ceremony & Welcome Reception.
Additionally, Discovery will begin Thursday, February 27 and offer three days of basic science symposia.
Saturday’s Keynote Session
You won’t want to miss Saturday’s keynote session, taking place from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, featuring Lewis H. Ziska, PhD. Dr. Ziska is an Associate Professor in the Environmental Health Sciences at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University and has worked extensively on documenting the impact of climate change and rising carbon dioxide levels on human health through a botanical lens, including allergies, nutrition, plant-based medicine and pesticide exposure.
During his session, “Effects of Climate Change on Plant Biology, Implications for Allergists and Allergy Patients,” he’ll present an overview of research over the past 25 years that has examined the relationship between climate change and plant-based allergens.
The “Get to Know Your Interest Section” Sessions
In an effort to encourage more networking within interest sections, the Joint Congress “Interest Section Forums” will be changing to “Get to Know Your Interest Section” sessions. Each session will include the interest sections’ business meeting, and light refreshments will be served. We hope you’ll take this time to meet with like-minded colleagues, share your ideas and jumpstart new collaborations.
These special sessions are held concurrently on Friday, February 28 from 3:45 to 4:30 pm. Decide which one is right for you by checking out more details in the Online Planner.
Sessions Related to the 2025 Theme
A number of sessions fit the 2025 theme of “Climate Change and Allergic Diseases: Global Impact on Health.” Examples include “Extreme Weather Events and Allergic/Immunologic Disease: Epidemiology, Health Effects and Mitigation Strategies”; “Climate Change and Health Equity in Airway Diseases: Allergist's Role in Understanding and Action”; “Climate Change and Allergy, Asthma and Respiratory Viral Infection”; “The Global Impact of Climate Change on Food Allergy” and many more. Socialize at the AAAAI Foundation’s Events

On Saturday, March 1, join us at the AAAAI Foundation Benefit for an evening of fine dining, music and the presentation of our 2025 Faculty Development Awards.
You also won’t want to miss the 13th Annual AAAAI Foundation Run/Walk on Sunday, March 2! Enjoy the fresh air as the sun sets on beautiful San Diego, CA, while raising money for allergy, asthma and immunology research.
Both events are fun ways to socialize and help raise money for the AAAAI Foundation’s mission of funding research that leads to the prevention and cure of asthma and allergic and immunologic disease. Learn more about both events here.

Have a question about the new mobile app? Stop by the Mobile App Support Desk for support in accessing and navigating the new mobile app, completing session surveys, claiming credit for the Joint Congress or downloading session materials. It opens Thursday, February 27 and closes Saturday, March 1.
The AAAAI Member Resource Center offers discounts on public education products and provides a space to update your membership information and have your general AAAAI questions answered. The booth will open Thursday, February 27 and closes Monday, March 3.
The WAO Member Resource Center offers opportunities for both individual members and society members. Stop by to learn more about member benefits, to confirm your delegates, update your society details and more. The booth will open Thursday, February 27 and closes Monday, March 3.
The AAAAI Journal Booth will have representatives from JACI, the most-cited allergy/immunology journal, and sister journals JACI: In Practice and JACI: Global to answer your questions regarding subscriptions and submissions.
Stop by the AAAAI Foundation Booth to learn more about the 2025 Lectureship Series, to purchase unique ribbons or make a donation. If you’re attending any of the Foundation events, make sure to stop by the booth to get your tickets or Run/Walk materials. It will open Thursday, February 27 and closes Sunday, March 2.
Get answers to your practice questions at the Practice Management Hub! Practice management experts will be on hand daily to answer questions on topics like compounding, coding conundrums and more. Stop by to learn how to get involved with AAAAI advocacy efforts and share what priorities are most important to you. The Practice Management Hub opens Friday, February 28 and closes Monday, March 3.
Learn about the AAAAI’s educational activities at the AAAAI Continuing Education Center. Staff will be available to help you learn about available courses/activities, claim CME and MOC credit and explain how you can propose new activities. They will be open starting Thursday, February 27 and close Sunday, March 2.

Are You Attending Discovery 2025?

Discovery 2025, the sold out, three-day conference focusing on cutting-edge basic science research, will take place Thursday, February 27 through Saturday, March 1.
Discovery requires separate registration from the Joint Congress, and sessions do not offer CME credit.
All sessions will take place at the Convention Center, Upper Level, Room 6C. The Discovery Poster Sessions will take place at the Convention Center, Upper Level, Room 6D on Thursday, February 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and on Friday, February 28 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
