President’s Message: The Power of Impact Across Our Specialty
President’s Message: The Power of Impact Across Our Specialty
Dear Colleagues,
In allergy/immunology, the impact of our work is often measured not only in scientific advances, but in the lives changed because of them.
In this edition of Impact, you’ll read stories that reflect the extraordinary reach of our specialty—from patients gaining confidence and independence, to researchers advancing environmental health equity, to members inspiring the next generation of allergist/immunologists.

Carla M. Davis, MD, FAAAAI
You’ll meet Armah, a young patient who is transforming his own experiences with food allergies and asthma into advocacy and awareness for others. You’ll read about the meaningful work AAAAI members are doing in underserved communities to address the environmental factors that affect asthma and allergic disease. You’ll also see how our Annual Meeting became an opportunity to inspire high school students to imagine themselves pursuing careers in medicine and science.
This issue also highlights the passion and dedication of members whose work often happens quietly but has lasting impact—from advancing aerobiology research over decades to helping families navigate the daily realities of food allergy with greater confidence and safety.
Together, these stories reflect something powerful about our specialty: innovation, research and education all matter—but at the center of it is people; those who make an impact and those who are impacted. Patients, families, trainees, researchers, educators and volunteers all contribute to the strength and future of our field.
Thank you for the work you do every day to advance allergy/immunology and improve the lives of patients around the world. I hope you enjoy this edition of Impact.
Sincerely,
Carla M. Davis, MD, FAAAAI
