President’s Message

Leadership and Engagement Key to Moving Our Specialty Forward
One of the hallmarks of a vibrant and innovative organization is the active engagement of its members. The AAAAI Board of Directors election is now open. I urge each of you to make your voices heard. This election is an opportunity for you to influence the direction of the AAAAI. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the impressive slate of candidates who've stepped up to lead and cast your vote for the future you envision.

Leadership in the AAAAI extends beyond elected positions. You can take the lead by participating in committees and interest sections, becoming a journal reviewer or advocating for our shared goals. Your involvement is crucial to the continued success and growth of our organization. This issue of Impact illustrates a few of the many ways your colleagues have chosen to lead.
In our cover story, you’ll read about the impressive efforts many practice leaders have taken to meet the challenge of preparing their offices and clinics to comply with the new USP 797 requirements. It's an insightful read on the extensive measures being taken across our community to meet these standards. The importance of adherence to these standards in clinical settings cannot be overstated.
The success of the School-Based Asthma, Allergy, and Anaphylaxis Program (SA3MPRO™) exemplifies the power of collaboration both within and outside our specialty. Andrea A. Pappalardo, MD, FAAAAI, shares her unique insights into the program's success, including the recent launch of two valuable resources for schools—the Stock Epinephrine Toolkit and the Stock Inhaler Toolkit.
Finally, I’m thrilled by the enthusiasm you have shown for the upcoming 2024 AAAAI Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. in February! You will find a preview of some of the key sessions, presentations and events in this issue. Registration has been strong and many ticketed sessions with limited capacity are filling up fast. At least seven have sold out! Preferred hotel locations are also filling fast. So, if you haven’t yet, I strongly encourage you to register today for this exceptional event and secure your spot. (Don’t forget to renew your membership for 2024 first so you receive the exclusive member discount rate.)
Thank you for all that you do to lead our specialty and our organization forward! Enjoy this issue of Impact!
Sincerely,
Jonathan A. Bernstein, MD, FAAAAI AAAAI President president@aaaai.org
