In Memory: Jack L. Armstrong II, MD, FAAAAI
Jack L. Armstrong II, MD, FAAAAI, a longtime member of the AAAAI, passed away in December 2025 at the age of 61.
He was a graduate of Penn State College of Medicine and received his post-doctoral fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia. He eventually returned to his home state of Pennsylvania to practice allergy/immunology at Medical Arts Allergy.
Dr. Armstrong was a committed physician who developed strong relationships with his patients and was known for cultivating an environment of compassion and respect. In addition to seeing patients, he was published on topics including allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, urticaria, angioedema and immunoglobulin deficiencies.
In Memory: Philip W. Askenase, MD, FAAAAI
Philip W. Askenase, MD, FAAAAI, passed away in March 2026 at the age of 86.
Dr. Askenase graduated from Yale School of Medicine in 1965, continuing his education at a number of institutions before returning to Yale as a member of the faculty, where he remained for over 50 years.
He published over 200 papers throughout his career and was particularly known for his contributions to immunology research – publishing as recently as 2025. He also held a deep commitment to both patient care and public health – as demonstrated by his opening of Yale’s Adult AIDS and HIV Clinic in 1985. The AAAAI awarded him with the Distinguished Scientist Award in 2018.
